Kim Yu-na Boosts Global Celebrity Status

Korean figure skating megastar Kim Yu-na is quickly establishing herself as a global sports celebrity. Earlier this week, Kim appeared on Canada's CBC in a show titled "Battle of the Blades" with her coach Brian Orser. It is a reality show pairing retired male hockey players and former female figure skaters. They compete in ice dance, with one pair getting eliminated each week.

Kim opened the show with a variation of her short program for this season to a James Bond medley at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.

Kim's agency IB Sports said the idea was to give her wider exposure in Canada before the Olympics in Vancouver in February. It was just one of IB Sports' many strategies to turn Kim into a world star. The company has already made a documentary about her at its own expense and plans to provide it to the Discovery Channel at the time of the Olympics.

If Kim wins the gold medal in the upcoming Olympics, IB Sports plans to hold a massive ice show in Los Angeles.

Kim could also participate in a worldwide tour of top figure skaters, mainly Olympic medalists, organized by IMG, one of the largest sports marketing firms in the world, which is to tour Korea, China, Japan and North America after the Olympics. The show in Korea is scheduled for mid-April.

Olympic gold and following in the footsteps of her idol, five-time World Champion Michelle Kwan, do not seem a distant dream for Kim, who seems unbeatable at the moment.

Five easy steps to Cheryl Cole’s lush lashes

Fake lashes have returned with a vengeance, with Cheryl Cole as the poster girl – she’s never seen without a pair to maximise those big brown eyes.

But they’re still a mystery to many of us who find them impossible to apply with any finesse. So we asked The Body Shop’s brilliant make-up artist, Chase Aston, for five easy steps to lush lashes…

You’ll need eyelash curlers, small nail scissors, tweezers, eyelash glue, lash comb and an orange stick for nails.

Once you have finished applying your eyeshadow and before you apply your eyeliner and mascara, first curl your lashes and then comb through using The Body Shop Brow & Lash Comb to separate.

Step 1
Once you have curled your lashes, and used a lash comb to separate any clumps, take the strip of lashes (Cheryl uses classic strip lashes, from Eylure - the brand even includes an exclusive Girls Aloud range) at each end and softly wiggle them, which will help the lashes become less stiff and easier to shape along the lash line.

Place the lashes onto the top lash-line to make sure they finish and end with your natural lashes – otherwise trim any excess from the outer corners only.

Step 2
Squeeze a drop of glue onto a clean surface and wait a few moments for it to dry and become tacky. Then take the lashes with your tweezers and, using the tip of an orange stick, apply a fine strip of glue along the fake lash line.

Still holding the lashes with your tweezers, tilt your head back slightly and looking down, start at the outer corner of the eyes, placing the lashes on top of your natural lashes along the lash line.

Step 3
Then take the clean end of the orange stick and starting from the outer corner of the eye, gently press lashes against the lash-line to set. Once lashes are in place and set, take your lash comb and comb through, blending your natural lashes with the fake.

Step 4
When the lashes are dry, take a black liquid eyeliner and apply along the top lash-line as close to the lashes as possible, which will help to conceal the lash roots. Finally apply a few coats of mascara to blend the fakes with your natural ones, which will also ensures the lashes stay put through the night.

Step 5
To remove lashes, Chase advises, wet with water or an oil-based eye make-up remover and soak along the top lash-line to soften the glue, then gently pull the lashes off, wash and leave to air dry so they are clean and ready to use again.

King Abdullah II of Jordan

Just before King Hussein of Jordan died in 1999, he named as his successor his eldest son, Abdullah. It was a decision which surprised the Jordanians, who were expecting Queen Noor's eldest son Hamzah to step into his father's shoes. Abdullah himself had planned to follow a career "behind the scenes," as he put it, in the military.

Born in Amman on January 30, 1962, to King Hussein and his second wife, English-born Princess Muna Al Hussein, Prince Abdullah began his education in the Jordanian capital before heading to England and, later, the United States. After completing his military education at the prestigious Sandhurst Academy, he spent a year at Oxford studying Middle Eastern Affairs and attended the School Of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in the States.

After Sandhurst, he served with the British Army before returning to his homeland to take up a post in the Jordanian Armed Forces. Although Hussein's eldest son represented his father in a diplomatic capacity while pursuing his military career, it was thought Abdullah would not succeed, especially as the king had named his own younger brother Hassan as heir.

A man of action, Abdullah is a scuba diving and automobile racing fan he's a former Jordanian National Rally Racing Champion plus a qualified frogman, pilot and freefall parachutist. He's also a keen collector of ancient weapons and armaments.

Disguised in a curly wig and jeans he has a reputation for mingling anonymously with his subjects in order to gauge public opinion about his rule. His biggest challenge as king will be to bring democracy to Jordan, a task for which he admits he doesn't "have a blueprint". His stance as a truly modern monarch is underlined by the vision he has posted on his website of "a Jordan with equal opportunities for all and with special privileges for none".

The young Army officer met his wife, Kuwait-born Palestinian Rania, at a dinner party given by one of his sisters in 1993 and, by all accounts, it was love at first sight. The two were married in June of that year and have four children: Prince Hussein, born in 1994; Princess Iman, born in 1996; Princess Salma, born in 2000 and Prince Hashem, born in 2005. When Abdullah took the throne, Rania was, at 28, the youngest (and some said, most beautiful) queen in the world.

The two live in an apartment in the suburbs of Amman, a wedding present from the late king which they prefer to any of the eight royal palaces scattered around the city, and are the epitome of normality or as normal as you can be when you are royalty. Rania still puts their children to bed herself, and her husband is not above whipping up the occasional evening meal.

Pregnant Kourtney Kardashian’s mood swings terrifies her boyfriend

Washington, Sep 7 (ANI): American socialite Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that she is suffering from such terrible mood swings ever since her pregnancy that her boyfriend Scott Disick is terrified of her.

Kourtney, 30, who is expecting her first child with Disick, admits that her hormones are affecting her temperament, but she is doing her best to try not to be rude to those close to her.

“Scott keeps getting scared. But he’s been great with my mood swings so far. He’s like, ‘Just take a deep breath,’” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“He heard that with the last three months of a pregnancy you have really extreme mood swings so he was joking, ‘Oh, you’re not going to believe the mood swings!’” she said.

But it is not only her partner who has been getting the sharp end of her tongue, her family, including sisters Kim and Khloe and mother Kris, have also been suffering.

“If I’m just trying to pick a fight with someone and if I’m around Scott or my mom, then they’ll probably get it worst,” she told People magazine.

“If someone is annoying me – usually my mom – I’ll call Khloe and it’ll make me feel better because she’ll agree with me.

“I throw b***h fits. The other day, I was like, ‘This house is such a mess! Now that Scott’s living in my house, there’s stuff everywhere! We need to get it organised!’ Everything I had to do, I blamed it on Scott,” she added. (ANI)

Kourtney Kardashian shows off her baby bump

Washington, Sep 21 (ANI): Socialite Kourtney Kardashian, who had at first hidden her pregnancy, was recently seen at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards showing off her growing baby bump.

Kourtney, 30, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Scott Disick, was dressed in a black flowing BCBG gown.

And she proudly posed sideways to show off her bump as she walked the red carpet with sister Kim Kardashian on September 20.

“It’s hard to get dressed when you’re seven months pregnant almost,” People magazine quoted Kourtney as having told E!

“It’s challenging but I still try to be fashionable,” she added. (ANI)

Washington, Aug 15 (ANI): American socialite Kourtney Kardashian has revealed that as she awaits the Christmastime arrival of her first child, she cannot but help revel in her new physique.

Kourtney, 30, who is expecting a child with her boyfriend Scott Disick, described what she likes the most about her pregnancy.

“My boobs got huge right away,” People magazine quoted the eldest Kardashian sister as saying.

“They got so sore, that if anyone even brushed up near me, I would scream,” she said.

And Kardashian, who lives with Disick, an entrepreneur, in Los Angeles, is not concerned about gaining weight either.

“I’m really embracing it,” she said.

“I feel like it’s such a beautiful thing, that every woman who goes though it, should embrace it. I think if you’re naturally skinny, and pregnant, and that’s how your body is, that’s fine,” she added. (ANI)

Kourtney Kardashian’s - Burgled

London, Oct 19 (IANS) Reality show star Kourtney Kardashian lost a huge sum of money and jewellery after her California home was burgled.

Kardashian, who is pregnant with her first child, returned to her townhouse in Calabasas Saturday with her boyfriend Scott Disick to discover the building had been broken into and jewellery worth thousands of dollars was missing, reported contactmusic.com.

Police have confirmed the 30-year-old is missing a Cartier watch worth $30,000, Scott’s expensive Rolex timekeeper and several diamond-encrusted accessories, including hoop earrings.

It is believed some vintage jewellery items given to her by her late father Robert Kardashian have also been taken from her home that is part of a gated community.

It is reported Kardashian and Disick left the building at 7 p.m. to go out for dinner.

When the two returned, they apparently grew suspicious after noticing several open drawers.

Jay Leno went after his former late night rival on Friday using some of his opening monologue to poke fun at David Letterman's recently disclosed sexual escapades with staffers.

As Friday's program began, Leno quipped, "If you came here tonight for sex with a talk-show host, you’ve got the wrong studio."
